What the Pokémon Weakness Calculator does

Knowing what a Pokémon is weak to tells you when to switch it out, which attacks to fear and which teammates to bring. This weakness calculator gives you the full picture for any regular Pokémon or any Pokémon Infinite Fusion in one step.

    • Weak to, resists and immune to for all 18 attacking types, with 4× weaknesses highlighted
    • Abilities included: Levitate, Flash Fire, Water Absorb, Thick Fat, Filter and more change the result, and changed types are marked with a star
    • Both fusion orders side by side, because swapping head and body can change the typing
    • Suggested teammates whose typing resists the most of its weaknesses

How to use the weakness calculator

    1. Choose Base Pokémon or Infinite Fusion.
    2. Pick the Pokémon, or the head and body for a fusion.
    3. Choose its ability. Abilities that change type matchups update the chart straight away.
    4. Read the weaknesses. Red cells are weaknesses, green cells are resistances and grey cells are immunities.
    5. Check the teammates. Select one to see its own weaknesses.

The console buttons work too: up and down change the Pokémon or head, left and right change the body, A picks at random, B swaps head and body, and Mode switches between base and fusion.

    How Pokémon weaknesses work

Each attacking type is super effective (2×), not very effective (½×), has no effect (0×) or is neutral (1×) against each defending type. A Pokémon with two types multiplies the two results together.

    How two types combine
Against type 1Against type 2Damage taken
    2×2×4× (double weakness)
    2×1×2× (weakness)
    2×½×1× (cancels out)
    ½×½×¼× (double resistance)
    Any0×0× (immune)

Fluffy also halves contact damage, which depends on the move rather than its type, so it isn’t shown in the chart.

    Infinite Fusion weaknesses

In Pokémon Infinite Fusion, the fusion’s primary type comes from the head and its secondary type from the body. That means fusing is a way to fix a weakness: a Pokémon weak to Ground can lose that weakness completely by taking a Flying type from its body. It can also create new 4× weaknesses, so always check both orders before you use your DNA Splicers.

For stats, moves and abilities of a fusion, use the fusion calculator. To test how hard an attack actually hits, use the damage calculator.

    Frequently asked questions

    How do I find a Pokémon's weaknesses?

Choose the Pokémon, or a head and body for a fusion, and pick its ability. The calculator shows how much damage it takes from all 18 attacking types and lists its weaknesses, resistances and immunities.

    What is a 4× weakness?

A 4× weakness happens when an attacking type is super effective against both of a Pokémon's types. The damage is doubled twice, so a single hit can often knock it out.

Do abilities change a Pokémon's weaknesses?

Some do. Levitate gives an immunity to Ground, Flash Fire to Fire, Water Absorb to Water, Volt Absorb to Electric and Sap Sipper to Grass. Thick Fat halves Fire and Ice damage, Filter and Solid Rock reduce super-effective damage, and Dry Skin and Fluffy make Fire hit harder. The calculator applies these and marks the types they change.

How are fusion weaknesses worked out?

A fusion takes its primary type from the head and its secondary type from the body, and its weaknesses come from that typing. Because swapping head and body can change the typing, the calculator shows both orders.

    What are the suggested teammates?

They are base Pokémon whose typing resists or is immune to the most of your Pokémon's weaknesses, while sharing as few of those weaknesses as possible. They make good switch-ins when your Pokémon faces a type it is weak to.

    Is this weakness calculator free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.
